Asian markets trade mostly lower in early deals on Monday

Most of the Asian markets traded lower in early deals on Monday, as participants sidelined ahead to this week’s US CPI and PPI figures, along with Fed Chair Powell’s semi-annual testimony on monetary policy. Investor sentiments dulled on news that provisional tariffs from the EU on China's EVs came into effect from Friday, and US imposed trade curbs on two Chinese firms over links to military training. Participants curtailed position taking ahead to Chinese inflation data as well as export and import figures due later this week. Hang Seng declined for the third straight session to an over 10-week low level, while forex reserves in the country fell to an 8-month low. Stock market of Malaysia is closed for Islamic New Year (Hijri).

Nikkei 225 down by 3.25 points 0.01% to 40,909.12, Hang Seng decreased by 238.22 points 1.36% to 17,561.39, Straits Times declined by 7.42 points 0.22% to 3,403.39, Jakarta Composite diminished by 3.84 points or 0.05% to 7,249.53 and Shanghai Composite reduced 15.70 points or 0.53% to 2,934.23, and 

On the flip side,  Taiwan Weighted up by 309.81 points or 1.32% to 23,911.23, and KOSPI Index increased by 0.81 points or 0.03% to 2,863.04.
