Larsen & Toubro (L&T), India's largest engineering and Construction Company, is competing for defense contracts worth up to Rs 8,000 crore, which will be awarded in the next few months. Among others, the company has placed bids for four contracts from the Indian coast guard worth about Rs 4,000 crore for supplying training ships and support vehicles, the orders of which are likely to be finalized in the next six months. Further, the company also plans to bid for two landing platform docks, worth Rs 1,000-2,000 crore each, to be awarded by the Indian government.
Recently, the infrastructure conglomerate received contract worth Rs 900 crore to build residential towers in Noida from Wave Group's realty arm Wave Infratech. Wave Infratech is building a mixed-use project 'Wave City Center' spread across 152 acres, which the company had bagged through an auction for about Rs 6,500 crore.
The company has received the contract for construction of residential towers at Wave City Center for the first phase of the project. The first phase of the township will be constructed in 9.5 million sq ft out of total 40 million sq ft. The company will soon start construction of the first phase that is slated for delivery by 2016.
