Tata Power, India’s largest integrated power utility is looking for opportunities across geographies including the Middle East with expectation to have about 5,000 MW overseas generation capacity in coming years. It has started feasibility studies for thermal power projects in Vietnam and Myanmar. In each of these geographies, Tata Power is initially looking to have capacity of 600 MW.
At present, the company has an installed generation capacity of 8,521 MW, including 1,111 MW of renewable energy. The company has also sought prospects in Indonesia, the Middle East, South Africa, Bhutan, Georgia and Australia, among others. The feasibility studies will take around 15-18 months to get completed and thereafter the development of project would take about three to four years.
