Tata Power Company, in the last one year, has added about 85,000 low-end power consumers into its Mumbai distribution network. At present, the company has a total of about four lakh consumers in Mumbai. The low-end power consumers use less than 300 units per month.
Recently, the company has announced that electricity bills got expensive for the company’s residential customer since the state electricity regulatory commission had approved a 25% increase in tariff for the year FY14. Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission (MERC) approved an average increase in tariff to Rs 5.26 per unit from the existing Rs 4.19 for FY14 for residential consumers, which will be effective from July 1.
