Indraprastha Gas Ltd (IGL) on Saturday announced an increase of 30 paisa a kg in the price of compressed natural gas (CNG) in the National Capital Territory of Delhi, and 35 paise in Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad. The new consumer price of Rs 29.30 a kg in Delhi and Rs 32.85 a kg in Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad would be effective from midnight.
The one per cent adjustment had been done because of the increase in operating expenses as a result of revision of minimum wages by the Government. This would have marginal impact on the running cost of CNG vehicles. CNG would still offer nearly 64 per cent savings toward the running cost when compared to petrol-driven vehicles. Compared with diesel-driven vehicles, the economics in favour of CNG at the revised price works out to over 22 per cent.
