Tata Power surges on mulling local acquisition opportunities

Tata Power Company is currently trading at Rs. 93.45, up by 1.05 points or 1.14% from its previous closing of Rs. 92.40 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 92.50 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 93.50 and Rs. 92.50 respectively. So far 32048 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 1 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 113.20 on 05-Dec-2012 and a 52 week low of Rs. 77.25 on 13-Jun-2013.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 93.50 and Rs. 87.00 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 21986.52 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 32.47% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 48.22% and 16.08% respectively.

In a bid to strengthen its footprint in domestic markets, Tata Power Company, the country's largest private electricity producer is mulling local acquisition opportunities. The company is also planning to strengthen its footprint in the solar and wind power segments through implementing new projects and acquisitions.

These acquisitions will help the company in leveraging its existing businesses in the power value chain. Further, the company is actively pursuing opportunities to acquire land in strategic markets in the country.

The company is engaged in executing power generation projects, across domestic and international geographies, having a cumulative capacity of 1,151 MW. These include 400 MW hydro plants in Georgia, 202 MW thermal project in Odisha and 234 wind plants in South Africa.
