Congress workers forced a restaurant in Parel to shut down because the owner had printed bills that were given to customers with a note criticizing the UPA government. Disappointed with the increasing taxes on eateries and restaurants, Srinivas Shetty, the owner of the Aditi restaurant added a few lines in the bill to customers saying: 'As per UPA government, eating money (2G, Coal, CWG scam) is a necessity and eating food in an AC restaurant is a luxury'.

The matter came to light on Monday afternoon when a few Congress workers observed it during a meal and reported it to the Congress party leaders in New Delhi who then diverted it to the Congress Youth workers in Mumbai and also forced the restaurant to shut shop for printing bills criticizing the UPA government. However, the eatery was reopened today but stopped circulating the bill.

The Congress workers also filed a defamation case against the owner of the restaurant. The owner has been booked for printing defamatory matter under Section 501 (printing or engraving matter known to be defamatory) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
