Asian markets trade mostly lower in early deals on Monday

Asian markets traded mostly lower in early deals on Monday, pressured by the risk aversion in the market ahead of the monetary policy decisions from the US Fed and the European Central Bank later in the week. Investor sentiments also dulled with the sluggish China’s factory data for January, and on curtailed services sector growth, Stock market of South Korea, Indonesia and Taiwan are closed for a holiday. Japan’s Nikkei dipped in the session after the BOJ raised interest rates by 25 basis points to 0.5%, marking the highest short-term borrowing costs in 16 years. 

Nikkei 225 down by 121.18 points 0.30% to 39,810.80, Straits Times dipped by 4.44 points 0.12% 3,799.82, and FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI declined by 5.59 points or 0.36% to 1,568.14.

On the flip side, Hang Seng rose by 193.78 points 0.96% to 20,259.97, and Shanghai Composite added by 9.73 points or 0.30% to 3,262.36.
