Metal stocks tumble amid worries over Trump’s tariff talk

Shares of metal companies are reeling under selling pressure after United States President Donald announced that new tariffs on all steel and aluminium imports into the country to be revealed on February 10. Trump said that the tariffs will impose a 25 per cent charge on all steel imports entering the United States, as well as a 25 per cent tariff on aluminium imports. 

Vedanta is currently trading at Rs. 436.25, down by 19.30 points or 4.24% from its previous closing of Rs. 455.55 on the BSE. The scrip opened at Rs. 454.00 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 454.00 and Rs. 433.75 respectively. So far 323981 shares were traded on the counter.

Steel Authority of India is currently trading at Rs. 105.60, down by 4.65 points or 4.22% from its previous closing of Rs. 110.25 on the BSE. The scrip opened at Rs. 109.00 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 109.20 and Rs. 105.35 respectively. So far 371005 shares were traded on the counter.

Tata Steel is currently trading at Rs. 133.70, down by 4.60 points or 3.33% from its previous closing of Rs. 138.30 on the BSE. The scrip opened at Rs. 138.25 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 138.25 and Rs. 133.00 respectively. So far 738838 shares were traded on the counter.
