06 Aug 2013 Evaluate

Bajaj Auto, the second-largest motorcycle manufacturer is planning to shift some production from its strike-besieged Chakan plant to its other facilities if there is no significant progress in talks with workers in the next one week. Since June 25, the workers at its Chakan plant went on strike, demanding that each of its 900 members be given 500 equity shares at Re 1 each.

The two wheeler maker is likely to manufacture 1,500 Pulsars into the Aurangabad plant for the foreseeable future, and will shift some equipment from Chakan to Aurangabad and Pantnagar. The company will appoint manpower at these plants and also advise some vendors to move resources there.
