Bond yields traded higher on Tuesday as Steel Secretary Sandeep Poundrik has said that the US announcement to impose tariffs on steel imports will not have much impact on the Indian industry as the domestic market is strong and a small quantity is exported to America.

In the global market, the yield on the 10-year Treasury note was slightly higher on Monday as investors looked ahead to several key economic data points this week, including the latest consumer inflation numbers, and braced themselves for new tariff announcements. Furthermore, oil prices rebounded on Monday despite lingering fears over a potential global trade war after U.S. President Donald Trump’s latest tariff plans, this time targeting steel and aluminium.

Back home, the yields on new 10 year Government Stock were trading 09 basis points higher at 6.80% from its previous close of 6.71% on Monday.

The benchmark five-year interest rates were trading 11 basis points higher at 6.74% from its previous close of 6.63% on Monday.
