Amara Raja Batteries gains on reporting 29% rise in Q1 net profit

Amara Raja Batteries is currently trading at Rs 283.15, up by 26.80 points or 10.45% from its previous closing of Rs 256.35 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs 258.80 and has touched a high and low of Rs 284.30 and Rs. 257.60 respectively. So far 249295 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs 1 has touched a 52 week high of Rs 328.00 on 30-Jan-2013 and a 52 week low of Rs. 156.03 on 14-Aug-2012.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs 263.00 and Rs. 207.75 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs 4556.42 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 52.06% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 25.03% and 22.91% respectively.

Amara Raja Batteries has reported results for first quarter ended June 30, 2013.

The company has reported 28.53% rise in its net profit at Rs 97.80 crore for the quarter as compared to Rs 76.09 crore for the same quarter in the previous year. Total income from operations of the company has increased by 28.38% at Rs 893.75 crore for quarter under review as compared to Rs 696.16 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2012.

Amara Raja Batteries is engaged in manufacturing of industrial and automotive batteries. It was founded in 1985. ARBL was first to introduce Valve Regulated Lead Acid (VRLA) batteries with three-year warranty in industrial and automotive applications.
