NTPC rises as its 500 MW Unit-II of Vallur Thermal Power Project becomes operational

NTPC is currently trading at Rs. 125.35, up by 0.85 points or 0.68% from its previous closing of Rs. 124.50 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 123.90 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 125.75 and Rs. 122.65 respectively. So far 110761 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 10 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 175.35 on 12-Sep-2012 and a 52 week low of Rs. 123.50 on 27-Aug-2013.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 136.80 and Rs. 123.50 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 102656.03 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 75.00% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 20.16% and 4.84% respectively.

NTPC’s joint venture - NTECL’s 500 MW Unit-II of 1500 MW Vallur Thermal Power Project is declared for commercial operation with effect from August 25, 2013. With this the total commercial capacity of Vallur Thermal Power Project has become 1,000 MW and that of NTPC Group total capacity has become 40,184 MW. NTPC Tamil Nadu Energy Company (NTECL) is a joint venture (JV) between NTPC and TANGEDCO.

NTPC is the largest power generating company in the country. It has also diversified into hydro power, coal mining, power equipment manufacturing, oil & gas exploration, power trading & distribution.
