Jindal Steel & Power’s (JSPL) subsidiary - Jindal Power (JPL), has received the 'Consent to Establish' for their expansion project of 2400 MW (4X600 MW) power plant. The company has received it on November 15, 2011 from Chhattisgarh Environment Conservation Board (CECB). Further, the work on this project has now commenced.
Recently, JSPL had received an approval from Mozambique government to build a 2,640 megawatt coal-fired power plant in the northern province of Tete, home to some of the world's largest untapped coal reserves.
The company’s net profit after tax for the quarter fell 17.23% at Rs 395.79 crore as compared to Rs 478.17 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2010. Its total income has increased by 44.93% to Rs 3341.53 crore for the quarter under review from Rs 2305.61 crore for the similar quarter of the previous year.
