Tata Power unveils sustainable agriculture programme

Tata Power, India's largest integrated power utility, has introduced sustainable agriculture programme under its ‘Samridhi’ initiative at Maval. The aim of this initiative is to improve the food security and livelihood of the communities living around the catchment area. The objective of this programme is to promote the importance of having a scientific approach towards agricultural practices among local farmers. More than 1,000 farmers across 18 villages are supported under this programme.

The programme allows farmers to move away from the traditional form of agriculture and encourages experimentation and promotes growth. This method would result in yield enhancement by more than 150 percent as well as teach farmers optimum utilisation of natural resources.
