Asian markets trade mostly lower in early deals on Tuesday

Asian markets traded mostly lower in early deals on Tuesday, due to risk aversion in the market with the ongoing concerns about global trade dynamics and on light trading conditions following the US Memorial Day holiday. The potential interest rate hikes from the Bank of Japan also contributed negative sentiments in the markets. Market remained wary over the implications of US President Donald Trump's decision to defer tariffs on European Union imports. Japan’s Nikkei slipped with the stronger local currency yen as it pressured the outlook for the country’s export-driven economy. 

Nikkei 225 down by 38.59 points or 0.10% to 37,492.94, Hang Seng slipped by 41.10 points 0.18% to 23,241.23, KOSPI Index decreased by 16.94 points or 0.64% to 2,627.46, Taiwan Weighted narrowed by 198.49 points or 0.92% to 21,338.08, Jakarta Composite dipped by 1.05 points or 0.01% to 7,187.30, and Shanghai Composite lower by 11.08 points or 0.33% to 3,335.76, and FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI lower 7.14 points or 0.47% to 1,527.16.

On the flip side, Straits Times up by 5.19 points 0.13% to 3,880.79.
