Torrent Power is currently trading at Rs 75.70, up by 1.75 points or 2.37% from its previous closing of Rs 73.95 on the BSE.
The scrip opened at Rs 74.90 and has touched a high and low of Rs 77.00 and Rs 74.80 respectively. So far 27656 shares were traded on the counter.
The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs 10 has touched a 52 week high of Rs 198.00 on 02-Jan-2013 and a 52 week low of Rs 67.00 on 06-Aug-2013.
Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs 80.45 and Rs 73.20 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs 3578.80 crore.
The promoters holding in the company stood at 53.44% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 25.99% and 20.57% respectively.
In a bid to feed its station, Torrent Power is all set to purchase natural gas directly from Petronet LNG. This is first of its kind of arrangement. Meanwhile, the company has laid an independent pipeline and has asked for small volumes initially around 0.05 million tonnes. Petronet is an importer of natural gas and currently operates two terminals at Dahej and Kochi.
Torrent Power is engaged in generation, transmission and distribution of power. The company generates 400 MW from its coal-based thermal power station located at Sabarmati.
