10 Sep 2013 Evaluate

Indraprastha Gas (IGL) has increased prices of compressed natural gas (CNG) and piped natural gas (PNG) in Delhi, Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad on September 7, 2013. Post price hike, the prices of CNG increased to Rs 45.60 per kg in Delhi and Rs 51.55 per kg in Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad each.

The company has raised the prices because of recent weakening of rupee against dollar. Meanwhile, the new consumer price of PNG to the households in Delhi is also being revised from Rs 24.50 per standard cubic meters (scm) to Rs 27.50 per scm up to consumption of 30 scm in two months with effect from September 8. Beyond consumption of 30 scm in two months, the applicable rate in Delhi would be Rs 47.50 per scm.

Indraprastha Gas, incorporated in 1998, is engaged in distribution of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and Piped Natural Gas (PNG) in Delhi. In 1999 the company took over Delhi City Gas Distribution Project from GAIL (India). IGL laid the network for the distribution of natural gas in the National Capital of Delhi to consumers in the domestic, transport, and commercial sectors.
