Copper futures end higher as American currency weakens overseas

Copper futures ended higher on Tuesday as the American currency weakened overseas following the US President Donald Trump's announcement of a ceasefire between Israel and Iran. Although some gains were limited by hawkish commentary from Fed Chair Powell, New York Fed President Williams, and Atlanta Fed President Bostic, who said they are in no hurry to cut interest rates.

Copper futures for July delivery gained $0.023 to settle at $4.8725 a pound on the Comex metals division of New York Mercantile Exchange. Copper on the London Metal Exchange was up by 0.02 percent at $9,669 a ton.
