Tata Power’s JV commissions 220/33kV grid substation at Wazirpur, New Delhi

Tata Power Delhi Distribution (TPDDL), a joint venture (JV) of Tata Power and the Government of Delhi, has commissioned a 220/33kV grid substation at Wazirpur, New Delhi. It is a double bus bar indoor gas insulated switchgear (GIS) grid substation with high efficiency levels, and adheres to the highest safety standards. The grid substation will provide an additional, 200 MVA, reliable power source to the Wazirpur Industrial Area, Trinagar, Ashok Vihar, Rampura and Shahazada Bagh areas, benefiting approximately 2 lakh existing and new customers.

Earlier, these areas were primarily fed from the 220kV Shalimar Bagh grid. It has incoming supply from two 100 MVA power transformers from the adjacent DTL grid and two interconnectors with the existing 33kV Wazirpur-2 grid. The grid has 10 33kV outgoing feeders and will be remote operated from TPDDL’s state-of- the-art supervisory controlled and data acquisition center. The grid has been built at a total cost of Rs11 crore.
