Maruti Suzuki to hike prices across entire range

26 Sep 2013 Evaluate

Maruti Suzuki is planning to increase prices across its entire range of models by up to Rs 10,000 per unit from the next month on account of rising input costs due to rupee depreciation. The price hike will be effective from the first week of October and the quantum of price increase will vary according to different models and fuel specifications.

The price hike comes on the expected lines and follows similar moves by the rival companies as the company aims to offset the impact of adverse currency movement on its margins.

Maruti Suzuki’s production for the month of August increased by 62.63% to 91,261 units as compared to 56,115 units in August 2012. Of the total, production in the mini compact segment comprising Alto, A Star and Wagon R surged 50.33% to 41,487 units as against 27,597 units in the same month previous year.
