Tata Power to set up a coal-fired power station in Myanmar

In a bid to expand its portfolio overseas, Tata Power is planning to set up a coal-fired power station in Myanmar. This would be the first project by the Tata Group Company in the South-East Asian nation and will be commissioned in 2019-20. The proposed power plant will be located in Ngayok Kaung, Ayeyarwaddy region, and would have captive coal berthing arrangements.

Further, the company is building hydroelectric projects in Bhutan, Georgia and Zambia. The firm is also developing two wind power projects in South Africa.

Tata Power is India's largest integrated power company with a significant international presence. The Company has an installed generation capacity of 8521 MW in India and a presence in all the segments of the power sector viz. Generation (thermal, hydro, solar and wind), Transmission, Distribution and Trading.
