Asian markets traded mostly lower in early deals on Tuesday, pressured by the risk aversion ahead of the US Federal Reserve's upcoming interest rate decision and weak global cues. Steeper-than-expected slowdown in China's consumer spending for November, dulled investor sentiments. Rising global bond yields also weighed on sentiment. Hang Seng shrunk to a two-week low amidst woes ahead of China’s November CPI and PPI releases due Wednesday.

Nikkei 225 down by 27.94 points or 0.06% to 50,554.00, Hang Seng dipped by 252.36 points 0.98% to 25,513.00, Taiwan Weighted slipped by 43.46 points or 0.15% to 28,260.32, KOSPI Index fell 15.70 points or 0.38% to 4,139.15, Jakarta Composite narrowed by 38.73 points 0.44 % to 8,671.97, and Shanghai Composite curtailed by 10.26 points or 0.26% to 3,913.82, and FTSE Bursa Malaysia lower by 2.76 points or 0.17% to 1,610.02.

On the flip side, Straits Times was up by 11.88 points or 0.26% to 4,518.96.
