Coal India gets nod to forge JVC to develop renewable energy projects in UP

Coal India has secured its board’s approval for incorporation of Joint Venture Company (JVC) between the company and U.P. Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam (UPRVUNL) for development of renewable energy projects in Uttar Pradesh (UP). The company will hold 51% stake in the JVC, while rest 49% stake will be held by U.P. Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam.

Additionally, the board has approved the proposal for incorporation of an Intermediate Holding Company (IHC) of the company in Chile. The IHC will explore and develop opportunities in Chile in the field of critical minerals, especially lithium and copper, aligned with the company’s diversification strategy.

Coal India is the world’s largest coal mining company. It also produces non-coking coal and coking coal of various grades for diverse applications.
