IDBI Bank contributes Rs 1 crore to ‘Chief Minister’s Relief Fund - Odisha’

IDBI Bank, as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives, contributed Rs 1 crore to the ‘Chief Minister’s Relief Fund - Odisha’ towards immediate relief for the populace affected by the recent cyclone ‘Phailin’. The cheque for the amount was handed over by IDBI CMD M S Raghavan to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. Odisha and adjoining areas witnessed incessant rains, when cyclone Phailin struck the coast of Odisha on October 12 and October 13, 2013.

About 8.73 lakh people were evacuated from areas near the coast, including Ganjam, Puri, Khordha and Jagatsinghapur districts, in the biggest peacetime human movement in the country in 23 years. The state suffered massive devastation and damage running into crore of rupees. Considering the extent of devastation, extensive rehabilitation measures are required in the area for restoration of normalcy.
