Canara Bank surges despite reporting 5% fall in Q2 net profit

Canara Bank is currently trading at Rs 259.50, up by 12.65 points or 5.12% from its previous closing of Rs 246.85 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs 244.75 and has touched a high and low of Rs 270.85 and Rs 244.75 respectively. So far 888984 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs 10 has touched a 52 week high of Rs 550.00 on 14-Jan-2013 and a 52 week low of Rs. 189.90 on 28-Aug-2013.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs 293.40 and Rs 244.85 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs 11431.62 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 67.72% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 24.99% and 7.29% respectively.

Canara Bank has reported results for second quarter ended September 30, 2013.

The bank has reported a fall of 5.29% in its net profit at Rs 625.94 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2013 as compared to Rs 660.97 crore for the same quarter in the previous year. However, total income of the bank increased by 13.29% at Rs 10427.48 crore for quarter under review as compared to Rs 9203.61 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2012.

Gross non-performing assets (NPAs) increased to 2.64% in the July-September quarter as against 2.58% in the same quarter previous year, while net NPAs has increased to 2.30%.
