Deepak Nitrite’s wholly owned subsidiary -- Deepak Chem Tech has received Board of Directors’ approval for setting a project for the manufacture of Bisphenol A (BPA) with a capacity of up to 240 KTA, including greenfield infrastructure and related capital expenditure for the manufacturing complex. Accordingly, the Board of Deepak Chem Tech has approved an investment of around Rs 2,500 crore, which will be firmed up upon completion of detailed engineering. The project will be funded through an appropriate mix of debt and equity.
The DCTL Board has already approved the establishment of India's first Polycarbonate resin manufacturing plant, leveraging Trinseo technology and associated asset acquisition, as well as a Phenol & Acetone manufacturing plant.
With the addition of BPA, Deepak Nitrite will move towards creating a highly integrated manufacturing platform spanning the value chain from Cumene to Phenol & Acetone, BPA and Polycarbonate resin, including downstream compounding. ln addition to meeting the captive requirements for the manufacturing of Polycarbonate resins, the BPA facility will enable the company to participate in the rapidly growing Indian market for Bisphenol A used in the manufacture of Epoxy resins.
