NTPC Green Energy (NGEL) has emerged as a successful bidder in the e-reverse auction conducted by the West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company (WBSEDCL) for the development of Standalone Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects in the state of West Bengal. The tender aimed at setting up of 500 MW/ 2000 MWh of standalone BESS capacity through a Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) process.
Under the terms of the Request for Selection (RfS), NGEL has secured 200 MW/800 MWh of BESS capacity at a discovered tariff of Rs 4.35 lakh per MW per month in the aforesaid tender. The e-reverse auction was concluded on August 7, 2026.

The company is mainly engaged in the activity of developing, building, owning, operating and maintaining utility scale grid connected solar and wind power projects (through O&M operations and in-house engineering).
