Larsen & Toubro’s (L&T) business vertical -- L&T Precision Engineering & Systems (PES) has delivered INS Samarthak, the first-of-class multi-purpose vessel (MPV), to the Indian Navy. INS Samarthak has been conceptualised, engineered and built entirely in-house at L&T’s Warship Design Centre & Shipyard at Kattupalli. It has over 75% indigenous content and stands as a testament to Government of India’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat vision.
The MPV is a highly specialised multi-role test and trials platform, to enhance future combat capabilities of Indian Navy. Named ‘Samarthak’, which means ‘supporter’, the ship is synonymous with the multi-dimensional role envisaged for the platform.
With the delivery of INS Samarthak, L&T reinforces its position as a strategic partner to the Indian Navy and in elevating India’s Naval strength through world-class, indigenous engineering.
