Tata Power shines on plan to raise Rs 5000 crore to repay debts

Tata Power Company is currently trading at Rs. 78.50, up by 0.25 points or 0.32% from its previous closing of Rs. 78.25 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 78.20 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 78.60 and Rs. 77.45 respectively. So far 162902 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 1 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 113.20 on 05-Dec-2012 and a 52 week low of Rs. 68.25 on 06-Aug-2013.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 80.55 and Rs. 76.60 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 18557.43 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 32.47% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 48.38% and 15.97% respectively.

Tata Power is reportedly planning to raise Rs 4000 -5000 crore through equity and debt. The company will raise the funds by FY15 largely to repay debts. The company is facing $670 million debt repayment by April 2015. The company is facing Cash flow pressure on Mundra operations losses.

The Company has an installed generation capacity of 8521 MW in India and a presence in all the segments of the power sector viz. Generation (thermal, hydro, solar and wind), Transmission, Distribution and Trading.
