Tata Metaliks terminates agreement with Global Coke

Tata Metaliks has terminated the agreement dated December 03, 2010 entered into with Global Coke for setting up of coke conversion plant on BOOT basis at the Kharagpur unit of the company. The company has informed the termination vide its letter dated June 08, 2011.

Recently, Tata Metaliks had approved the relining of mini blast furnace (MBF) No. 2 at the Kharagpur unit of the company. It had also changed the profile of the furnace for increasing the working volume from 215 cubic meter to 259 cubic meter, a 20% increase resulting into increase in hot metal production by about 17,000 million tonnes at an estimated expenditure of Rs 28 crore. The company has received the approval for the above at its board meeting held on April 26, 2011.

Tata Metaliks is engaged in manufacturing of pig iron, casting, iron ore fines, coke breeze and limestone. Company’ manufacturing facilities located at Kharagpur (West Bengal) and Redi (Maharashtra) have received various certifications such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 and NABL ISO 17025 for its quality management.
