Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and poet Kumar Vishwas clarified that his remarks about nurses from Kerala during a stage show is a script written for the 'Kavi Sammelan' and had nothing to do with politics. If some people are making a huge issue out of this, then it is clearly for a political motive,' he added.

Kumar Vishwas hit out at the Congress Party, saying that they should apologize to the nation first for unemployment, inflation and lack of safety for women. He further added that he never tried to intentionally hurt the sentiments of anyone. Jokes delivered in a kavi-sammelan are scripted and presented in a jocular and lighthearted manner without an intention to harm anybody's feelings. But if some words have hurt the sentiments, he apologizes to them from depth of heart.

In a statement issued by Kumar Vishwas, he wrote: 'It has come to my knowledge, that an old video-clip of one of my Kavi-Sammelan, has hurt the feelings of many of my friends residing in Kerala. I must say that I don't appreciate any discrimination based on religion, region, gender, caste or creed.'
