08 Dec 2011 Evaluate

India’s most preferred budget airline, SpiceJet, in a bid to increase its market share has launched commercial flights connecting Tuticorin to Chennai. The budget airline had recently announced addition of Tuticorin as the 31st destination on its domestic network.

The first Chennai-Tuticorin flight, a Bombardier Q-400 NextGen turboprop aircraft, landed at the Tuticorin airport yesterday. Chennai was announced as the second base for SpiceJet's Q400 aircraft. With an aim of enhancing connectivity from the Tamil Nadu capital in the second phase of its Q-400 expansion the airline will position at least three planes in Chennai.

SpiceJet aims to enhance air connectivity to smaller towns with the recent fleet expansion and with addition of these aircraft.
