Canara Bank trades with traction on the bourses

Canara Bank is currently trading at Rs. 220.50, up by 0.60 points or 0.27% from its previous closing of Rs. 219.90 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 222.15 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 223.50 and Rs. 220.00 respectively. So far 98828 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 10 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 469.50 on 07-Feb-2013 and a 52 week low of Rs. 189.90 on 28-Aug-2013.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 226.40 and Rs. 210.85 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 10237.64 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 69.00%, while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 23.27% and 7.73% respectively.

Canara Bank, a leading nationalized bank, has reportedly unveiled ‘Canara MSME Facilitation Centre’ to support the micro and small enterprise. The bank has opened such 5 centers in Ludhiana, Pune, Coimbatore, Kolkata and Indore. The bank has opened these centers to assist the MSME units which are under the control of private money lender to establish themselves well in the banking field.

These centres would handhold, support and provide assistance to such units and potential entrepreneurs during the initial stages of development. The majority of MSMEs depends on the informal sector for their finance needs either because they do not maintain proper books of accounts/records or have no project report. These centers will solve their problem by providing them financial support that they need in the beginning.

Canara Bank has reported 42.39% fall in its net profit at Rs 409.35 crore for third quarter ended December 31, 2013 as compared to Rs 710.51 crore for the same quarter in the previous year. However, Total income of the bank has increased by 16.45% at Rs 10935.29 crore for quarter under review as compared to Rs 9390.29 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2012.
