Tata Power surges after Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal quits

Tata Power Company is currently trading at Rs. 77.25, up by 3.40 points or 4.60 % from its previous closing of Rs. 73.85 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs 74.40 and has touched a high and low of Rs 77.60 and Rs 74.40 respectively. So far 417424 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Re 1 has touched a 52 week high of Rs 102.45 on 15-Mar-2013 and a 52 week low of Rs. 68.25 on 06-Aug-2013.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs 76.75 and Rs. 73.00 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 18391.31 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 32.47% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 48.56% and 15.78% respectively.

Tata power’s stock rose after activist-turned-politician Arvind Kejriwal resigned as chief minister of Delhi on Friday, frustrated by obstacles put in the way of an anti-corruption bill. Kejriwal was appointed in part on a promise of lowering electricity tariffs for millions of Delhi's voters and in December had asked the state auditor to look into the accounts of power distribution companies to see if they were profiteering. In respect of this Delhi government had asked the region's power regulator to revoke the licences of two electricity distributors if they fail to supply power, drawing criticism from the companies.
