SBI to sell around Rs 3000 crore of NPAs by March end

State Bank of India (SBI), country’s largest lender has reportedly is planning to sell around Rs 3000 crore of NPAs by March end. The bank’s Gross non-performing assets (NPAs) as a percentage of gross advances increased to 5.73 percent in Q3FY14 as against 5.64 percent in Q2FY14 and 5.3 percent in Q3FY13 while net NPAs rose to 3.24 percent from 2.91 percent and 2.59 percent during the same period.

Meanwhile, the bank reported 34.20% fall in its net profit at Rs 2234.34 crore for third quarter ended December 31, 2013 as compared to Rs 3396.06 crore for the same quarter in the previous year. However, total income of the bank has increased by 14.91% at Rs 39060.76 crore for quarter under review as compared to Rs 33992.11 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2012
