ICICI Bank and Vodafone launches 'M-Pesa' service in Odisha

ICICI Bank, India's largest private sector bank and Vodafone India, one of India's leading telecommunications service providers, together have launched 'M-Pesa', a unique mobile money transfer and payment service in Odisha. M-Pesa empowers the unbanked and under-banked sections of the population gain access to financial services through the mobile phone.

With this service, customers can withdraw and deposit cash from designated outlets, transfer money within India, make payments to recharge, clear the utility bills and for DTH service among others. This service will now be available across 202 Tehsils, 24 Districts through 1350 specially trained authorized agents and across 73 Vodafone exclusive retail stores in Odisha.

Apart from Odisha, this service has been rolled out in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, West Bengal, Punjab, UP East, UP West, Bihar, Jharkhand, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa, Assam & North East and Haryana and will be made available across the country in a phased manner.

ICICI Bank has more than 3,595 branches and extension counters, and over 11,160 ATMs spread across the country. The Bank services its large customer base through a multi-channel delivery network of branches, ATMs, call center and internet banking.
