Third Unit of GMR's Kamalanga Thermal Power becomes commercially operational

The third 350 MW unit of the GMR Group's coal-based thermal power plant at Kamalanga in Odisha's Dhenkanal District has been declared commercially operational with effect from March 25, 2014. The first unit of 350 MW became commercially operational on April 30, 2013 and the second unit of 350 MW on November 12, 2013. With this, the combined generation capacity of the plant has reached 1050 MW and that of the GMR Group has touched 2485.6 MW.

GMR Group, the Bangalore headquartered global infrastructure major with interests in Airports, Energy, Highways and Urban Infrastructure is establishing the 4x350 MW GMR Kamalanga Energy (GKEL) in two phases of 3x350 MW and 1x350 MW, respectively. GKEL would supply power to Odisha, Bihar, Haryana and other parts of the country.
