Neyveli Lignite strengthens on surpassing power production target for 2013-14

Neyveli Lignite Corporation is currently trading at Rs. 65.15, up by 2.35 points or 3.74% from its previous closing of Rs. 62.80 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 63.40 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 65.90 and Rs. 63.30 respectively. So far 85170 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 10 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 74.10 on 02-May-2013 and a 52 week low of Rs. 49.00 on 05-Aug-2013.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 65.90 and Rs. 58.55 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 10905.11 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 90.00% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 8.37% and 1.63% respectively.

Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC), the public sector lignite mining and power generation enterprise has surpassed power production target for 2013-14. The company mined 266 lakh tonnes of lignite and generated 19,988 million units (MU) of electricity. The target fixed by the Government of India was 18,929 MU, the company achieved 5.60 per cent more than the target.

NLC operates three opencast lignite mines -- two in Neyveli and one at Barsingsar, Rajasthan -- with a total capacity of 30.0 million tonnes.

NLC is engaged in the business of lignite mining and power generation. At present, the company has four opencast lignite mines with a capacity of about 30.60 million tonnes per annum, while it can produce about 2,740 MW of power from four power plants.
