Milestones of the company

  • 1978: A company then known as ‘Super Sound Electronics’ commenced its activities with the manufacture of audio cassettes.
  • 1986: The company was incorporated as a Public Limited Company on 3rd Dec 1986, as Media Video Limited.
  • 1987: It started the manufacturing of pre-recorded & blank Video Cassettes in 1987. It has to its credit, the distinction of being the largest producer of pre-recorded and blank video cassettes, with the largest manufacturing unit in India. The company acquired copyrights of over 800 Indian / foreign films from 1986-1991.
  • 1988: Media set up production unit set up in Delhi, D-9/5, Okhla Industrial Area Phase II for production of TV Video Games. Due to the sudden spurt of sales, it had to source the production of the TV Video Games through the OEMs. It now felt the need to enlarge its production facilities and manufacture its games in house.
  • 1990: Media acquired a huge chunk of land from RIICO, Bhiwadi, Rajasthan for setting up of a manufacturing facility.
  • 1994: Media initiated the construction of the state of the art production unit at Bhiwadi for manufacturing of: Plastic moulded components, TV Video Games, Rechargeable Devices/ Flashlights, Chip Bonding section, Tool Room (Injection moulding section)
  • 1996: Commercial production started off in full steam at Bhiwadi.
  • 2001: In October 2001, after carrying out an extensive survey of the Indian market needs and consumer preferences, the company diversified into manufacturing & marketing of audio/video products including, DVD players, VCD players, home theatre systems, mini compo systems and high-end versions of such products.
  • 2005: Media introduced an impressive range of colour televisions to its existing range of audio/video products.
  • 2006: Media Video Limited diversified into the real estate industry & launched the brand - MVL.
  • 2007: The real estate division of Media Video Limited is de-merged into a separate company. MVL Limited is born.

Recent developments

MVL’s board of directors of the Company at its meeting held on April 27, 2009, for issue of Non Convertible Debentures (NCD) to Institutional Investors / Mutual Funds / bodies corporate on private placement basis, has decided that the company can raise the funds to the tune of Rs 400 crore by preferential allotment to Institutional Investors / Mutual Funds / bodies corporate to finance its expansion plan.
