Mcleod Russel surges as its arm inks pact for acquisition of tea factory in Vietnam

Mcleod Russel India is currently trading at Rs. 314.90, up by 14.95 points or 4.98% from its previous closing of Rs. 299.95 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 301.35 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 315.25 and Rs. 300.30 respectively. So far 93677 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 5 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 330.00 on 02-Jan-2014 and a 52 week low of Rs. 240.35 on 20-Aug-2013.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 315.25 and Rs. 288.50 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 3433.63 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 45.71% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 41.09% and 13.20% respectively.

Mcleod Russel India’s step down subsidiary company in Vietnam - Phu Ben Tea Company, has signed an agreement on June 25, 2014 with Ngoc Hai Company for acquisition of a factory in Doan Hung District, Phu Tho Province, Vietnam with annual production capacity of 12 lakh kgs of made tea at a price of $2,093,700 inclusive of VAT.

Mcleod Russel India is the largest tea producing company in the world. In July 2005 McLeod Russel acquired Borelli Tea Holdings from the Magor family based in England and took over the 17 tea gardens of its Indian subsidiary Williamson Tea Assam. McLeod Russel is the largest tea exporter from India with a strong customer base in United Kingdom and Europe.
