SML Isuzu (formerly Swaraj Mazda), manufacturer of trucks and buses, is targeting 15 percent market share in the commercial vehicles (CV) segment over the next four years. At present, the company’s market share in the commercial vehicles category is 7.5 percent. With a production capacity of 20,000 units per annum at its Punjab plant, the company is planning to ramp it up further.
Sumitomo Corporation, Japan, and Isuzu Motors, Japan, hold 44 percent and 15 percent shareholding in the company, respectively. The balance is being held by the public.
SML Isuzu manufactures a range of vehicles such as trucks, buses and ambulances. The company has launched products like 4WD, Samrat, Sartaj, Dual Cab, Supreme-8 tonner, Truck- Super 12, Super ALFD and many more.
