Ashok Leyland rises on reporting 24% rise in March sales

Ashok Leyland is currently trading at Rs. 74.20, up by 0.65 points or 0.88% from its previous closing of Rs. 73.55 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 72.95 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 74.30 and Rs. 72.60 respectively. So far 577732 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 1 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 76.05 on 11-Mar-2015 and a 52 week low of Rs. 21.80 on 05-May-2014.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 75.70 and Rs. 66.85 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 20888.73 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 38.82% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 32.83% and 15.97% respectively.

Ashok Leyland, the commercial vehicle manufacturer, has reported an increase of 24% in sales in March 2015 to 12,754 units as against 10,281 units sold in the same period of last year. The company has experienced a rise of 30% in its medium and heavy commercial vehicle (M&HCV) products segment to 10,027 units in March. The company’s light commercial vehicle (LCV) witnessed a rise of 6% to 2,727 units in March 2015. Sales for April 2014-March 2015 period went up 17% over previous year period to 104,902 units.

Ashok Leyland, the Hinduja Group flagship company in India, is engaged in the manufacturing of commercial vehicles and related components. The company’s products include buses, trucks, engines, defense and special vehicles.
