Ashok Leyland gains on reporting 40% rise in May sales

Ashok Leyland is currently trading at Rs 72.20, up by 0.75 points or 1.05% from its previous closing of Rs. 71.45 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 71.50 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 73.00 and Rs. 71.25 respectively. So far 1043968 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 1 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 77.00 on 15-Apr-2015 and a 52 week low of Rs. 29.05 on 14-Jul-2014.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 73.00 and Rs. 68.30 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 20518.77 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 38.82% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 32.44% and 16.37% respectively.

Ashok Leyland, the commercial vehicle manufacturer, has reported an increase of 40% in sales in May 2015 to 9,294 units as against 6,632 units sold in the same period of last year. The company has experienced a rise of 41% in its medium and heavy commercial vehicle (M&HCV) products segment to 6,892 units in May. The company’s light commercial vehicle (LCV) witnessed a rise of 37% to 2,402 units in May 2015.

Ashok Leyland, the Hinduja Group flagship company in India, is engaged in the manufacturing of commercial vehicles and related components. The company’s products include buses, trucks, engines, defense and special vehicles.
