After lying low over the years on the sugar front, Empee Sugars and Chemicals Limited (ESCL) has set up an integrated sugar plant at Tirunelveli in Tamil Nadu with a crushing capacity of 5,000 tonne per day and with cogeneration power plant of 50 mw and 100,000 litre capacity per day of alcohol/ethanol plant. It has enabled the new plant to have an expandable capacity upto 8,000 TCD, which will be taken up over the next two years. The company has invested Rs 515 crore into the plant.
