Ashok Leyland sold 7,869 trucks in February compared with 3,245 in the same month of last year, indicating a recovery in demand. However, sales in February were only two units more than in the previous month.
Also, the company sold fewer goods-carrying medium and heavy duty vehicles in the domestic market in February (5,364 units) than in January (5,779 units), although February sales were notably higher than in February of last year (1,438).
In April - February 2010, Ashok Leyland sold 53,859 vehicles compared with 49,332 in the corresponding period of last year, a rise of 9 per cent. Medium and heavy duty cargo vehicles' sales were 33,747 units versus 28,723 units previously, a 17 per cent increase.
