Union Bank of India to sell Rs 1,200 crore of stressed loans to ARCs

Union Bank of India (UBI), one of the largest public sector banks of India, is planning to sell Rs 1,200 crore of stressed loans to Asset Reconstruction Companies (ARCs). The total gross NPA of commercial banks stood at Rs 3.31 lakh crore for the quarter ending June 2015.

The bank has reported 21.88% fall in its net profit at Rs 518.78 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2015 as compared to Rs 664.11 crore for the same quarter in the previous year. However, total income of the bank has increased by 5.80% at Rs 9043.17 crore for quarter under review, as compared to Rs 8547.56 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2014.

The bank’s gross non-performing assets (NPA) for the April-June quarter of the current fiscal increased 5.53%, as compared to 4.27% of corresponding quarter in previous year. Besides, bank’s Net NPA stood at 3.08% in Q1FY16.
