Ashok Leyland builds up on registering 13% jump in February sales

Ashok Leyland is currently trading at Rs 28.90, up by 0.25 points or 0.87% from its previous closing of Rs 28.65 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs 28.95 and has touched a high and low of Rs 29.15 and Rs 28.15 respectively. So far 180535 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Re 1 has touched a 52 week high of Rs 30.50 on 17-Feb-2012 and a 52 week low of Rs 20.05 on 22-Dec-2011.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs 29.50 and Rs 26.00 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs 7689.36 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 38.61% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 31.41% and 16.55% respectively.

Ashok Leyland’s, the Commercial vehicle maker, total sales in February 2012 accelerated by 13% year-on-year to 11,103 units as compared to the total sales of 9,800 units in February 2011.

Excluding Dost, the Hinduja Group Company’s sales last month declined 3% from a year ago to 9,521 units. Over April- February period, Ashok Leyland sold 87724 units, up 7% from a year ago, which included 5382 units of Dost. Excluding Dost, its sales over the 10-month period were up just 0.50%.

The company reported a 54% year-on-year jump in third quarter net profit at Rs 67 crore, while revenue was up 29% to Rs 2,880 crore.
