Ashok Leyland, the flagship company of the Hinduja Group has registered a 4.6% decline in its June sales. The company has sold 8,009 vehicles in June, down 4.6 percent from a year ago. In the same period last year, Domestic sales in June were 6,824 vehicles compared with 7,497 though exports jumped 31.5 percent to 1,185 vehicles.
Recently, Ashok Leyland, had registered a 12% drop in its commercial vehicle sales at 5,725 units in May 2011 as compared to 6,502 units in same month previous year. Meanwhile, the domestic sales of the company for May declined 14.92% to 5,082 vehicles from 5,973 units in corresponding month previous year, however exports surged 21.55% to 643 vehicles as compared to 529 vehicles in May 2010.
Ashok Leyland’s net profit for the fourth quarter rose by 33.94% at Rs 298.23 crore as compared to Rs 222.66 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2010. Its total income increased by 30.30% at Rs 3832.65 crore for the quarter under review from Rs 2941.35 crore in the corresponding previous quarter.
