Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) has secured a Rs 703-crore order for the main plant package for the Bela Thermal Power Project in Maharashtra. The order for the greenfield power project, located at Bela in Nagpur district, has been placed by Ideal Energy Projects Ltd.

 

BHEL's scope of work in the present contract envisages design, engineering, manufacture, supply, erection and commissioning of boiler, steam turbine and turbogenerator, along with associated auxiliaries.

 

The order comes close on the heels of another order for a 600 MW thermal power plant of Korba West Power Company Ltd in Chhattisgarh. In fiscal 2008-09, the installed capacity of BHEL-supplied utility sets went up to 87,646 MW and the company maintained its share of 64 per cent in the country's total installed capacity of 1,38,175 MW.
